Christmas?!

What?!? It's been almost three months since Christmas?!? Are you kidding me? If I was a Christmas optimist, I could say that means it's only nine months till next Christmas. Alas, I love Christmas, but not that much.
We usually have two days of celebration and this Christmas was no exception. We started out at Nanny and Pa's. It's always good to see everyone. And it's always good to be silly together. We love smiling and laughing.

Santa came to visit and left tons of things, he knew exactly what they wanted.

On to MomMoms and PopPops, where they were spoiled with toys, books, love, breakfast and lunch.

Cade went to the Santa shop at school and picked a present for everyone. He was so proud of himself. I was proud that he loved GIVING the items. He got Uncle Michael silly string, sounds like the perfect gift for a silly uncle.

I love candid photos. And I love when they convey a feeling. The two below are two of my favorites. You may not be able to see Nathaniel's whole face, but you can see his eyes. They are lit up. So happy, so loved...so joyed. Cade's open mouth, head thrown back laugh photo shows his uninhibited love of life.

Even before Christmas we got spoiled by a visit from Aunt Ann and Uncle Jim.

First Full Day of Spring

Hey guys! It's the first full day of spring what better day to share snow pictures. It was a cold winter this year! From the first snow flake to the last Cade begged to go play in the snow. If he woke up at five in the morning with snow on the ground, he didn't understand why we couldn't go out and play. To him it was a winter playground. The first big one we had was pretty deep, but it was also pretty cold. The boys didn't care. They treated it like a pool. They jumped, swam and laughed. It was below zero!!!! The photos below are from that day. The second big one we had was another story. It wasn't below zero, but it was a wet snow. Nathaniel did not enjoy that. As soon as his face got wet he was ready to go inside, and I don't blame him. It just hurt. I did stay out with Cade as I shoveled he ran and ran and ran. He loves the snow. So do I, but to enjoy things more, we must miss them...so spring is here and with it t-ball. So I won't complain.

The picture below is of the second snow, just look how much it was still snowing!!!!

The Wanky

I've had this blog planned since before Christmas. But alas computer troubles plus procrastination has put this blog into March. Onto the goods...

The Wanky.
We all know it. We've all seen it.
It all began around Christmas of 2011. We decided to take a trip to the zoo to see the Christmas lights. We wanted to be sure everyone was warm enough, so we stop at the good ol' Wally World and picked up two of the $5 seasonal blankets. We threw them over strollers while enjoying the Wild Lights.
Fast forward three years: We still have that five dollar blanket. Not the thirty dollar ones from Gymboree. Five dollars. Christmas. Walmart. It goes mostly every where. (It used to go everywhere.) He lost it once at the babysitter's. That was a good day. He was sad, but he dealt. About a month later she found, and here we are.
Trying to wash it is a tricky game I often lose. He knows when it's gone, even if it's downstairs in the washer and he's been playing for an hour. I tried to get another similar one so we'd have a back-up, he knew the difference (it was green and Santa). We've had lots of five dollar blankets, but none are THE Santa blanket.
Wanky used to be a bright, vivid green with Santa all over it. Santa is still on it, but has dimmed over time... Nate's love has only grown brighter.

There aren't many pics of the wanky after this one. It stays in his or his brother's room, until time for sleeping.
